1970's Langford Restoration

7/28/2018

This 1970's Langford canoe arrived in the shop in need of a little bit of LPC to get it back into top shape. The original canvas has done it's time and water damage had rotted out part of the floor planking and the underside of the keel.

Lone Pine Canoe uses marine enamel paints from Epifanes and Interlux in a wide range of colors. On occasion we've even mixed our own colors! Both companies offer products that are designed for water and weather and  that have a hard enamel-like finish.  The Epifanes finishes have a slightly more intense gloss than Interlux but both paints look great on a cedar canvas canoe and hold up equally well in our experience. Please note that Interlux colors are usually  a bit lighter than they appear on the color chip samples. The choice of brand to go with comes down to personal preference in color and finish. Here’s a sampling of how they look on finished projects.
Some current and past projects that have been completed by Lone Pine Canoe with a few notes on canoe repair techniques along the way.
